Had so much fun working on this new INCREDIBLE HULK sketch cover! I wanted to get that wonderful, weighty, powerful Jack Kirby look, so I based this on one of Jack's very fist drawings of the Hulk! Click images below to enlarge!
Below: My rough sketch, drawn directly on the cover,
along with gray marker tones put in as an
"underpainting" to get things started!
Below: Adding colors atop the underpainting, carefully
following the value contrasts set down in the black-and-white
tones..
Below: Almost done, after adding the color marker,
plus a few touches with crayon, watercolors, and ink...
Below: The finish cover, after adding some acrylic highlights, a
few gray washes here and there, and some colored pencil touches!
