Bruce Wayne! Dick Grayson! BATMAN '66 "Secret Identities" Sketch Covers!

Back again with more fun sketch cover commissions!

This time it's a trio of covers depicting the cast of the good guys from the 1966 BATMAN TV series!

"Batman" Bruce Wayne (as portrayed by Adam West), "Robin" Dick Grayson (actor Burt Ward), plus the secret identities of "Green Hornet" Britt Reid (actor Van Williams), and "Kato" (actor Bruce Lee)!

All done in colored pencil, ink, and crayon!

1950 BATMAN Cover Recreation Painting!

  I always loved this famous action-packed BATMAN cover from 1950, as drawn by Win Mortimer.

I wanted to recreate it in a more realistic manner, so here it is, rendered in ink, marker, colored pencil, and crayon, with text elements added atop the art!

  A very unusual sketch cover commission, featuring actor Alan Napier, in his memorable role as Batman's butler, "Alfred Pennyworth" (from the 1966-68 BATMAN TV series)!

New "Jack Kirby" CAPTAIN AMERICA Sketch Cover!

 What is it about the powerful comic art of Jack Kirby? You simply can't look away from his work, absolutely bursting with dynamic movement, power, and drama!

Here is my take on one of Jack's famous 60s Captain America images, one used on posters, stickers, tee shirts...

Rendered using ink, colored pencil, crayon, watercolor, and marker!

New Wonder Woman Painting!

 Here is a great "just for fun" illustration!

I was going for a kinda "70s air-brushed" retro posterized look, in both the approach and composition, and came darned close!

This was rendered in ink, crayon, and colored pencil!

1948/1966 Riddler Sketch Cover! Batman!

Using a recent facsimile reprint of this famous comic book, I combined the cover to DETECTIVE COMICS #140 (which fronted the first 1948 comics appearance of the Riddler character), with a new sketch of the villain as he later appeared on the 1966 BATMAN TV show!

Yep, that's actor Frank Gorshin as the superfoe, in a wild reimagining of this famed Golden-Age comics cover!

All rendered in ink, marker, colored pencils, and crayon!

 Had a ton of fun with this sketch cover, based upon the famous 60s Aurora model kit, but with an added 1950s ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN (the TV series starring George Reeves) twist!

BATMAN-ALMOST GOT 'IM Original Comic Art! Rare Roughs and Pencils!

I had so much fun working on this wonderful little custom comic (that was included in a now-classic book and tape set), adapting the famed "Almost Got 'im" episode of BATMAN-THE ANIMATED SERIES! 

Here are a few pages of my rough pencils for the book, featuring not only the Caped Crusader, but also Killer Croc, Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Two-Face, and, of course, Harley Quinn (in what's arguably her first comic book appearance)!
