PHOEBE NYX Custom Burlesque Art! Green Ukuleles! Stickers!

Here is a fun project for a local friend who performs under the nifty nom de plume of Phoebe Nyx! She's a very talented and sassy retro singer, dancer, and musician, who wanted to create some eye-catching calling-card branding for her character and line! We worked tirelessly on a pose that captured Phoebe's charm, playfulness, and her trademark ukulele! Click image below to enlarge!

Below: Performer Phoebe Nyx, known for her lime-green
outfits and equally-tinted ukulele!

Below: Trying to come up with a pose and (more importantly) an attitude
that matches this playful performer!

Below: Refining the pose in pencil, as well as starting work on
the facial caricature!

Below: After much tweaking, we have the final inked face! Look at that smile!

Below: The fully-refined penciled figure is ready to be inked!

Below: The inked figure, with added brackets and details!

Below: The finished illustration, with coloring, and added logo!

Below: A stand-alone illo of "Elphie," Phoebe's famed uke!

Below: The finished stickers! Phoebe will give these away at shows and events,
as a sort of colorful and collectible "business card!"

Below two images: It's Phoebe herself, with the finished sensational stickers!

Hey Hey! It's a Monkees Custom Guitar Neck Plate!

One of the oddest uses of my art has to be this one!

Super Monkees fan (as am I) Scott Murray was commissioned to create another one of his amazing custom Monkees-themed electric guitars, and approached me to ask if he could re-purpose my own Monkees artwork for a nifty neck plate for this new awesome ax!

Click below to view this amazing one-of-a-kind guitar, one I'm proud to be a part of!

Below: My original 1995 artwork!

Below two images: Scott's design for the guitar's rear neck
plate, using the above artwork, re-formatted into the
limited plate area!

Below four images: The printed and etched plates are ready
to be attached to the guitar!

Below: The new custom guitar (bottom) seen with Scott's
earlier color custom Monkees guitar (top)!

Below: The attached neck plate! This brass plate helps
attach the neck to the body of the guitar!

Below: Even cool custom picks are created!

Below: New proud owner (Jodi Ritzen) poses next to the
talented Scott Murray (holding his original custom ax)!
Scott has also made other themed custom guitars such as
a "Steve Jobs Apple guitar," and a George Harrison "Magical
Mystery Tour" guitar! See them (and so much more) here
or at Scott's new site, over here!

Monkees "Monkees Heels" Logo?!

Now THIS is an strange one! I designed this logo around 1987 for a North Carolina fan club for the Monkees! I attempted to mix the Monkees logo with the UNC Tar Heels logo, and came up with a favorite design...but for a very oddly-named club! Click to enlarge!
